Types of RFID and PCMCIA

The use of RFID and PCMCIA cards are widely used today for storage of large data. There are three types of PCMCIA, each have different uses but all three have the same rectangular size (85.6 by 54 millimeters) though each differ in width. Different PCMCIA cards use PCMCIA Reader Type 1 is 3.3 mm thick, and is used primarily for adding additional ROM or RAM to a computer. The next types are used for modem and fax modem cards and are 5.5 mm thick and are called Type II cards. Type III PCMCIA cards on the other hand is used for portable disk drives and is 10.5 mm thick.

An RFID card as well uses different RFID Readers for varied types of RFID tags. Some type of RFID tags are Passive tags, this type of tag has no internal power supply. The minute electrical current induced in the antenna provides power to power up and transmit a response to the reader. Active tags on the other hand have their own internal power source, which is used to power the integrated circuits and broadcast the signal to the reader that are attached to Touch screen gadgets for faster access of data. Other types are semi-passive, extended capability and antenna types.
